Restoring a partial backup in cPanel is a quick way to recover specific parts of your website such as files, databases, or email accounts. This is especially useful if only one section of your site was affected by an update, error, or accidental deletion. Keep in mind that restoring a partial backup will overwrite the existing data for that specific section, so make sure you are uploading the correct file.
Follow the steps below to restore your backup safely:
-
Log in to your cPanel account.
-
In the Files section, click on Backup Wizard.
This tool provides an easy, beginner-friendly interface for creating or restoring backups. -
Under Backup/Restore, select Restore.
This opens the panel where you can choose what type of partial backup you want to restore. -
Under Select Restore Type, choose the specific item you want to restore.
Options usually include Home Directory, MySQL Databases, or Email Forwarders and Filters. -
Click on Browse, select the backup file from your computer, and then click Upload.
cPanel will begin restoring the selected backup and replace the existing data with the uploaded version.
